The Beaches
Hale Aliomanu sits directly on Aliomanu Beach, one of Kauai's most secluded beaches. Usually empty and perfect for swimming and snorkeling, this beach is reef protected, thus providing the quintessential beach vacation throughout the year. A few minute's drive north are scenic Moloaa Beach and Larsens Beach. Weather depending, Moloaa Beach is wonderful for limited swimming, but is great for sun bathing and beachcombing. Larsens' can be a experienced snorkelers paradise at certain times of the year and for the most part is not a swimming beach due to the coral and reef.
Anini Beach Park is considered the most protected beach along the North Shore of the island. A fringed reef runs the entire length of beach and is Hawaii's longest reef. The water on one side of the beach is only four feet deep and slowly cascades to over a 100-foot depth on the other side. This beach is also well known for swimming, snorkeling and windsurfing.
A two mile crescent-shaped beach, Hanalei Bay is one of the most spectacular beaches. Hanalei means lei-shaped bay. In 2009, Hanalei Bay was selected as America's number one beach. Once you experience what the bay has to offer, it is not hard to understand why it was awarded this title.
